Which Service Is Right for You?

Staff augmentation vs recruitment: choosing the right model.

When evaluating offshore developer pricing, the sticker rate tells only part of the story. Vetting quality, retention, trial periods, contract flexibility, and hidden markups all affect the true cost of hiring. Here is how Odesa stacks up against the most common alternatives on the metrics that impact your total cost of engagement.

Choose Staff Augmentation if...

$45-75/hr

Staff augmentation is the right model when you need flexibility, want to avoid permanent headcount, or need to scale engineering capacity quickly for a defined period. The developer works as part of your team but is contracted through Odesa.

Best for
You need to scale fast without long hiring cycles
You want to try before you commit (2-week free trial)
Your project scope may change month to month
You prefer hourly billing over fixed salaries
You want to avoid benefits, payroll taxes, and overhead

Choose Recruitment if...

$3,999/hire

Recruitment is the right model when you want a permanent team member on your payroll, have budget for a full-time salary, and want to pay a one-time flat fee instead of ongoing hourly costs. The developer becomes your direct employee.

Best for
You want a permanent full-time hire on your team
You have headcount budget approved for the role
You want to pay once ($3,999) instead of ongoing hourly
You need long-term commitment and IP on your payroll
You want a 90-day guarantee with free replacement

How much does Odesa staff augmentation cost?
Hourly rates range from $40 to $75 depending on technology specialization and experience level. Mid-level engineers (3-5 years) start around $40-50/hr, senior engineers (5-10 years) at $55-65/hr, and lead/architect-level (10+ years) at $65-75/hr. There are no retainers, no placement fees, and no hidden markups beyond the hourly rate. See the full rate card above for detailed per-role pricing.
Everything: full candidate sourcing from our 250+ developer network, multi-stage technical assessment, English communication evaluation, professional background verification, interview scheduling and coordination, and a 90-day performance guarantee with free replacement. The $3,999 is the same whether you are hiring a $100K mid-level engineer or a $200K lead architect. One flat fee, one hire, zero add-ons.
No. Odesa pricing is fully transparent and what you see on this page is what you pay. Staff augmentation is billed hourly at the stated rate with no administrative fees, setup costs, or markup beyond the rate. Recruitment is a one-time $3,999 flat fee per hire with no additional charges. We do not charge retainers, do not take percentages of salary, and do not invoice for expenses. If an engagement requires anything outside standard scope, we discuss and agree on pricing before any work begins.
Choose staff augmentation if you want flexibility, hourly billing, a risk-free trial, and the ability to scale up or down monthly. Choose recruitment if you want a permanent full-time hire on your payroll for a one-time flat fee. Many clients start with staff augmentation to evaluate a developer’s fit, then convert them to a direct hire through our recruitment service when they are ready to make it permanent.
Yes. Companies augmenting with 3+ developers or making 5+ recruitment placements qualify for custom team-level pricing. The discount structure depends on the size and duration of the engagement. Contact Val directly to discuss volume pricing for your specific requirements. All volume agreements include priority matching and accelerated onboarding timelines.
Staff augmentation is invoiced bi-weekly or monthly based on hours worked. Payment is due Net 15. Recruitment fees are invoiced upon the candidate’s accepted offer and start date, with payment due Net 30. Custom development projects are billed on a milestone basis as defined in the project scope. We accept wire transfer, ACH, and credit card payments.
Yes. This is a common path for our clients. After working with an augmented developer for several months, many companies decide to bring them on as a permanent employee. The conversion process goes through our recruitment service at the standard $3,999 flat fee. This gives you the advantage of hiring someone you have already worked with and validated before committing to a full-time position.
