CLIENT STORY · JUMPSEED · AGTECH PLATFORM
Three engineers for one growing season. Shipped 11 days before the freeze.
JumpSeed builds a field-intelligence platform for growers: sensor data, irrigation and yield forecasting in one place. The season roadmap needed backend, mobile and geospatial data work at the same time. Odesa placed a three-person pod for 150 days at 55% below fully loaded US cost, about $168,000 saved, and the release landed eleven days ahead of the freeze date.
Staff augmentation · Client-led sprints · Two-week paid trial, then month-to-month · US working-hour overlap

THE COMPANY AND THE CHALLENGE
Three workstreams, one season, and a hard date.
JumpSeed's platform turns field sensors, weather and satellite imagery into irrigation and yield decisions for growers. The season roadmap needed three things in parallel: an IoT ingestion backend, a mobile app for agronomists in the field, and a geospatial data pipeline behind the forecasts.
Hiring three US specialists for a season-long push did not make sense, and a project shop would have taken the work out of JumpSeed's own sprints. The release had to land before the freeze date, when the platform locks for the growing season.
✓ Three specialists inside JumpSeed's own sprints
✓ IoT, mobile and geospatial skills without three US requisitions
✓ A release before a fixed freeze date
WHAT ODESA DID
A pod matched to the season plan.
JumpSeed ran the sprints. Odesa matched the three seats, ran onboarding and covered replacement risk, with a weekly check-in. Two-week paid trial first, month-to-month after.
Three seats, defined by the workstreams
Senior backend engineer on Python and IoT ingestion; mobile engineer on React Native for the field app; data engineer for the geospatial pipeline.
Shortlist, interview, trial
Matched on prior IoT and geospatial work, interviewed and chosen by JumpSeed, and productive on the stack inside the two-week paid trial.
150 days in JumpSeed's sprints
Same standups, same code review, same release plan. Odesa handled onboarding, replacement cover and a weekly check-in so JumpSeed managed the work, not the vendor.
Release before the freeze
The release shipped eleven days ahead of the freeze date. Two of the three engineers extended 30 days for post-release work.
THE RESULTS
Three seats. One season. Shipped early.

WHY IT HELD
Three things made a seasonal pod work.
Matched to the season plan
Each seat mapped to a workstream with a date on it: ingestion, field app, geospatial pipeline. JumpSeed interviewed and chose every engineer.
Inside JumpSeed's sprints
Same standups, same code review, same release plan, with US working-hour overlap agreed up front. A paid trial decided whether it worked.
Odesa carried the overhead
Onboarding, replacement cover and a weekly check-in sat with Odesa, so JumpSeed's team managed the work, not the vendor.
