THE GAP BETWEEN BUILT AND READY

It works for you. Will it work for a stranger?

AI helps you ship fast, but it has never used your product. In manual testing, a person does. Every release check covers the three moments where launches go wrong.

01

The first five minutes

Can someone sign up, understand what the product is for and reach the first useful result without you standing next to them?

Exploratory testing · Onboarding · Navigation
02

Your most important action

Can they book, subscribe, check out or finish the one action your business depends on, on the first try?

Functional testing · Checkout · Forms
03

The unexpected turn

What happens on a phone, with a typo in the email, a missing field, a refresh mid-flow or a second attempt?

Cross-browser and device testing · Errors · Recovery

MANUAL TESTING VS AUTOMATED TESTING

Manual testing vs automated testing

Automated testing runs scripted checks fast and the same way every time, so it suits stable features, regression suites and CI pipelines. It only checks what someone wrote a test for. Manual testing puts a person in the product: exploratory testing, usability judgment, new features and the paths nobody scripted. Most teams need both. When a journey is stable and retested every release, automation is usually the better long-term buy, and Odesa also staffs QA automation engineers. Below are defects that automated checks and AI assistants let through, as founders describe finding them after launch.

Drawn from public founder accounts of AI-assisted launches, collected September 2026.

Buttons that look like they work and don't. The UI renders, the handler was never wired.

A signup path nobody can find. It exists. It is behind the wrong menu on the wrong screen size.

Auth that lets everyone in. Mocked for the demo, never replaced.

One bad field wipes the whole form. The person types it all again, or leaves.

The phone layout hides the one thing that matters. It looked perfect on your laptop.

The second attempt breaks it. Retry, refresh, browser back, double click: duplicates, blank screens, lost work.

THE RIGHT PEOPLE FOR THE RIGHT QUESTION

Manual QA testing and usability testing with real users

Two different questions. Professional testers find what breaks; real users show what confuses.

IN EVERY RELEASE CHECK

Manual QA testing by professional testers

Two experienced remote testers and a QA lead, in the US or abroad as your audience requires, work through your agreed journeys by hand, challenge assumptions and reproduce every issue across the devices and browsers in scope.

✓ Functional, exploratory and regression testing

✓ Bug reports with reproduction steps, evidence and severity

✓ Cross-browser and device testing, plus usability observations

Best for: finding what breaks or gets in the way.

OPTIONAL: ADD REAL USERS

Usability testing with real users

Watch five people who match your audience attempt real tasks in recorded usability sessions. See what they understand, where they hesitate and what they expected to happen.

✓ Five screened participants

✓ Recorded, task-based 20 to 30 minute sessions

✓ Researcher-led synthesis of the recurring friction

Best for: knowing whether people understand what your product is for.

AN ANSWER YOUR TEAM CAN ACT ON

Know what broke. See how to fix it.

One organized handoff, reviewed by a QA lead. Enough context for your engineers, or ours, to move every finding straight into the next sprint.

01

A prioritized bug report

What happened, the steps to reproduce it and why it matters. Functional defects and usability observations are clearly separated and ranked by severity.

02

Evidence you can see

Annotated screenshots and short screen recordings for every finding that needs one. Real-user session recordings with the upgrade.

03

A readout with your QA lead

Walk through the findings together. Agree what deserves attention first and what can wait.

04

A retest within 30 days

Ship the fixes on your own schedule. We recheck the agreed priority issues and confirm what is closed.

MANUAL TESTING FAQ

Manual testing services: common questions.

Not sure where your product fits? Send the form and we will work through the scope together.

Is this only for products built with AI?

No. The check works for AI-assisted builds, traditionally developed software and existing products with a new release. The starting package covers web products; native apps and more complex workflows get a separate scope.

How does the guarantee work?

At the readout, you decide which findings are worth fixing. If fewer than five make that list, you pay nothing for your one-time package, including the real-user upgrade when selected. A finding must describe a distinct, actionable issue in the agreed journeys; duplicate reports count once. We agree scope, access and kickoff before testing. The guarantee does not apply to an ongoing QA subscription. Separately, $1,500 is credited toward an Odesa engineering engagement started within 90 days of the readout.

Does the $1,500 package include real users?

The starting package includes two professional QA testers and a QA lead. They test functionality and record expert usability observations. The Real Users upgrade adds five screened participants and a researcher's synthesis. We agree the audience criteria and recruitment feasibility before confirming that upgrade.

What do you need from us to start?

A short product brief, the journeys that matter, the intended audience and a build we can reach. We agree browsers, devices, test accounts and safe test data before testing begins. Share credentials through a secure channel we set up, never through this form.

Will this catch every bug or certify our release?

No test can promise that. This is a focused review of the agreed journeys within the testing allowance, and the report states what was tested and what stayed out of scope. Penetration testing, load testing, formal accessibility audits and compliance certification are separate services.

How does the retest work?

Request one retest within 30 days of the report. We agree which fixes to check, recheck them, record the result and flag anything that still needs work or a separate check. Two of the twelve testing hours are reserved for it.

Do we have to hire Odesa to make the fixes?

No. You get a standalone report your own team can act on. If you want help, Odesa can add an engineer, such as a forward-deployed engineer, or scope the work separately, and your $1,500 counts toward it. Buying QA never creates an engineering commitment.

How is this different from hiring a QA engineer?

This is a managed engagement with defined coverage, deliverables and a fixed price. If you need a dedicated tester inside your team every day, Odesa's QA and test automation staffing starts at $45 per hour and is the better fit.

What are manual testing services?

Manual testing services put trained testers in front of your product to check it by hand, the way a customer would use it. Odesa Human QA covers functional, exploratory and regression testing of your agreed journeys, cross-browser and device testing, and usability observations. Every finding comes as a bug report with reproduction steps, evidence and severity.

How much do manual QA testing services cost?

A one-time Human Release Check is $1,500 for up to five journeys on three device and browser setups. Adding usability testing with five real users starts at $2,500 in total. Ongoing Human QA for teams that release continuously starts at $3,500 per month. Every package is scoped and priced before work begins.

Do we still need manual testing if we have automated tests?

For most products, yes. Automated tests confirm that scripted checks still pass. They do not notice a confusing screen, a phone layout that hides the main button or a path nobody wrote a test for. Manual testing covers new features, exploratory testing and usability. For stable journeys you retest every release, test automation is usually the better long-term buy, and Odesa can staff a QA automation engineer for that. Our manual QA testing guide explains the trade-offs.

Which devices and browsers do you test on?

The Human Release Check covers three device and browser setups, agreed at scoping to match your audience, for example iPhone Safari, Android Chrome and desktop Chrome or Edge. Cross-browser and device testing beyond that, and native mobile apps, are scoped separately.
